The IESO introduced its approach to the Evolution of Annual Planning Outlook (APO) and Annual Acquisition Report (AAR) and acknowledged that policy urgency is accelerating with the Ministry’s release of the Powering Ontario’s Growth (POG) report (which relied heavily on the IESO’s Pathways to Decarbonization study (P2D)). The IESO has recognized the need to better coordinate its APO and AAR processes and sought feedback on the helpful elements of the APO/AAR and enhancements to their processes. The PWU identified that the IESO could best serve Ontarians by urgently developing realistic demand forecasts across all regions that reflect the electrification of the economy and adjusting its procurement practices accordingly.
